Chele has 18 years of professional experience in the fields of humanitarian relief, recovery and development with significant experience with rights-based and participatory approaches in refugee, IDP and emergency response programming. With field experience in natural disasters, conflict contexts and complex humanitarian crises, she has led the development and coordination of protection programs for vulnerable populations, with a strong focus on accountability and impact measurement.
Chele was involved in the initial PSEA pilot program for the Kenya Refugee Program in 2005 and went on to lead the PSEA interagency program in the nine refugee camps on the Myanmar border as an Advisor to the Committee for the Coordination of Services to Displaced Persons in Thailand (CCSDPT). She has been responsible for the development of Community Response Mechanisms (CRM) and PSEA initiatives in humanitarian response programming in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. She is a trained trainer on accountability, PSEA and managing investigations, and has been responsible for leading investigations into SEA allegations on behalf of her organizations as well as an independent investigator.
