Aya is a seasoned professional with extensive expertise in humanitarian aid, development, and volunteer work. Since 2007, she has been actively involved in the humanitarian sector, starting as a volunteer with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) and advancing to a career in humanitarian emergencies. Aya’s experience spans roles such as MEAL Manager, Senior Researcher, Head of Monitoring and Evaluation, Team Leader, and Technical Director.
She is the founder of NSDation Consultancy Services, providing consultancy and capacity-building services to humanitarian practitioners and donor agencies. Over the past decade, Aya has delivered impactful training programs on Sphere standards, Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS), M&E, quality and accountability systems, Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), project management, and NGO governance and leadership. Her ability to tailor training to diverse organizations underscores her deep understanding of the humanitarian landscape. She is proficient in delivering training in English and Arabic.
Aya has significantly contributed to customizing Sphere training modules for the Syrian context, integrating real-life examples from the field. She has led numerous in-person and remote training sessions, workshops, and Training of Trainers (TOTs). Additionally, she played a crucial role in developing the Sphere in Urban Settings training curriculum, demonstrating her commitment to enhancing humanitarian practices.
