HNPW: CHS and IFRC discuss community engagement – what evidence do we need?
Geneva
HNPW Session title: Community Engagement is vital for more effective, efficient and accountable aid – What evidence do we need?
Join us at HNPW to discuss community engagement and accountability in some of the challenges we face today. There is an increasing understanding that community engagement is vital for effective, efficient and accountable aid, and yet, in these resource stretched times, there is a danger that accountability to people affected by crisis and all that entails is put to the side.
Now more than ever, it is essential to unite in examining and leveraging the evidence and impact of community engagement. By showcasing its effectiveness and aligning the sector’s capacity to measure it, we can collectively reinforce and amplify the transformative potential of community engagement and accountability approaches.
Join us to: discuss progress made on addressing gaps in measuring the impact of community engagement in humanitarian action and explore how the sector is doing in terms of demonstrating collective accountability and its effectiveness. We will deep dive into the existing initiatives, results and challenges and will reflect on what more could be done to leverage evidence.
Through the exploration of practical tools, methodologies, and experiences presented by the different academic and humanitarian partners (UNIGE/LSHTM, IFRC; UNICEF and CHS Alliance) we will work toward building a shared vision for demonstrating and increasing impact.
