Aim of the organisation

Austrian society of the Red Cross (ARC), founded 1880 as national institution for humanitarian aid, is a non profit organisation based on the Red Cross law in Austria. It is guided by the fundamental principles of the Red Cross Movement and it implements its humanitarian activities with the help of volunteers and employees. Through its activities, ARC aims to help the most vulnerable in society, both at national as well as at international level. In Austria, ARC has a network of around 57.000 volunteers and 8.300 employees, and at the headquarters it employs around 500 staff members. ARC is the Austrian member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

Organisation activities

Strategy 2020 is Australian Red Cross’ roadmap for our future, guiding us to respond to rapidly changing humanitarian needs in our second century of service to the Australian community. To meet increasing humanitarian needs in the years approaching 2020, we have set six strategic goals reflecting our vision and purpose: - An active humanitarian movement - Resilience in disasters - Championing peace, reducing suffering - Overcoming adversity - A strong Red Cross - Blood saving lives
